Despicable Me: Honey Nut Cheerios Mini Minion Collectable Figures

As a guy who starts his days off with a hearty bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios, I was pretty excited to see that Despicable Me 'Mini Minion' figures were going to be joining me for breakfast. Instead of just buying my usual, one box of cereal while at the supermarket I grabbed two. Ok, maybe three... Fine, I grabbed 5 boxes, but not all at once, and they were on sale - I swear!

So as I sit here and eat my fourth bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios for the day I thought I'd post a quick write up on the 'Mini Minions' that come packaged inside specially marked boxes. Grab your milk & spoons and dig in!

The Mini Minions stand just shy of 3 inches tall and about 1/2 inch thick. They have a 3.5 inch cord above their heads for attaching them to your bags and what not.

There are 8 Mini Minions to collect, of which I've only managed to snag 5 so far (I have an extra two-eyed, evil, Purple Minion if anyone wants to trade).

I don't know the official names of the figures, but based on the photos it looks like we have:

Dave (Vacation)
Evil Minion (One Eye)
Stuart (Waving)
Sombrero
Jerry (What?)
Fireman
Knight
Evil Minion (Two Eyes)

The detail on the Minions is nice for what they are. Their overalls looks sharp, with a recessed 'G' on the front, and the goggles have rivets around the edges. I'd say a modest amount of effort went into the sculpts. The Minions are solid, with a nice weight to them and stand easily on flat surfaces.

The rear of the Minions are stamped TM & © Universal Studios mfd. for GMI Made in China TCB

Can't wait to learn more about these characters in Despicable Me 2 which is out in theaters next week

The facial expressions on the Mini Minions are great, and the biggest draw to collecting these figures. They capture the Minions charming personalities perfectly.

The paint on the figures is hit or miss with the Minions I've gotten so far. As you can see in the photo above, the Evil Minion has some cracks in his eyes, while Phil has what looks like tarter on his teeth.

The back of the cereal box features Despicable Me inspired puzzles to keep you occupied while you enjoy your Cheerios. No spoilers here, I'll let you figure the riddles out for yourself.

The Mini Minions are nice, inexpensive little collectibles for Despicable Me, Minion & Honey Nut Cheerios fans like myself. I'm not sure how long they'll be in stores so best to grab them while the getting is good. I'm hoping to complete the set if I can, as soon as I can eat my way through the boxes I've already bought.
